Deadpool and Wolverine Review

By John Olsen

I am a massive fan of Deadpool and Wolverine. From the very beginning of reading the comics, it has been a dream of mine to see them on the big screen. Usually, when you have great expectations, they are rarely met, but Deadpool and Wolverine meet them and more.

After the Movie Logan, which was far and away a classic, I thought the idea of a Deadpool and Wolverine movie was out of the question. I am so ecstatic that Logan didn't kill the crossover.

The movie Logan was a classic, and, in fact, it's probably the best X-Men movie. The idea that Deadpool and Wolverine have somehow belittled the Logan movie is ridiculous. First, it's not the same Logan as from the Movie Logan. But then again, the Multiverse is complicated and unusually dumb. However……. Deadpool and Wolverine do the Multiverse right.

As Marvel and Star Wars have slowly died under Disney'sDisney's ever-watchful eye, Deadpool and Wolverine have excelled at every aspect, including the Multiverse. Ryan Renalds has made a perfect Deadpool movie. He has nailed everything from the story to the visual effects and the humor!

Warning!!Slight Spoilers ahead:

Deadpool finds himself in the clutches of a rouge Time Variance Authority who wants to end Wade's Timeline. After finding out only a Logan can save his Univirse Deadpool finds a living Wolverien to help and all hell breaks lose.

Ryan does a fantastic job once again as Wade Willson, AKA Deadpool, and again, there can be only one Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The two make a tremendous pare as they fight, laugh, and even cry through this adventure.

The range in this movie billed as a comedy, is excellent. I laughted I cryed and I got mad. The cast and cameos were terrific. The writing was done so well the laughs just kept coming. I've seen the movie 4 times and am still catching things I missed. The ending is heartfelt and warm to cap off a rollercoaster of a ride.

I genuinely hope that Disney sees this as a win, but mostly, I want them to understand why it was a win. People want to go to a fun, exciting, funny movie, not a lecture on what the world is doing wrong. There is a way to show diversity without preaching for 120 minutes. People want great scrips and fun, in-depth character arks, not flash-the-pan, perfect-from-the-get-go heroes. Logan was always flawed, but his arc made him a hero. Wade was never perfect, and he still isn't, but he is now a hero. No matter the background, all characters need a human arc, and Deadpool & Wolverine do that perfectly.

10/10 would see it again.

Rated R for Violence/ suggestive scenes/ Sex/ innuendo/ and every reason a movie would be R
